My design decisions were inspired on the opening scene for the original Dark Shadows where we may see waves crashing on the shore. I wanted to create some sort of design that resembled these waves in order to bring back some element from the original show. So I combined that with this dark shadow effect.
I though the addition of the moon bleeding into a disco ball would be a nice way, along with the color choice, to represent the 70s part of the movie and its new rendition.
Finally I am very happy with the results I hope you guys like it!
Quite clever! I enjoyed reading your thoughts on the composition of this. The crashing waves were iconic, and I am glad that Burton chose to use them throughout the film. The cliff/beach scenes were exceptionally beautiful. They are here, too, and appear to be a part of his cloak. Morphing the moon into the disco ball is another brilliant choice. His eyes are very expressive; he does look like Depp--love the ears! A fun and intriguing look into this wonderful character.
